Richard “Rik” Ashdown is a highly experienced freelance graphic designer based in Manchester, UK. There are very few aspects of design he has not had experience in. Rik’s curious and entrepreneurial approach to design means he likes to get involved in every aspect of production within the businesses he has worked with. This thirst for knowledge of how things work has always been an asset in the number of in-house roles he has worked in, up to a senior level, and which taught him how to grow and develop brands across both print and digital media. Since 2018, Richard has been working agency-side, utilising these skills for a huge spectrum of clients across all sectors with great success. Notably, Richard delivered the social media campaign which led to the first UK property sale via Instagram. He also created the designs involved in Global Media’s first fully multi-channel advertising campaign produced entirely in-house in 2021, and was part of the team responsible for the UK’s first fully animatronic 3D billboard in 2023! Rik is recognised within Global media’s creative agency team as an expert in multi-channel solutions and is now an official freelance design supplier to Global. Richard is often consulted on concepts, design, pricing, production, and branding practices. Rik builds good relationships with clients because he loves to talk about design and exchange ideas. Richard works with clients of all sizes and is primarily attracted to interesting briefs and values the process over the profit. Rik has become known as a presenter and influencer of ways to inspire new clients and works closely with several marketing agencies. Most importantly, Rik strives to take an interest in his client’s businesses which allows him to translate their ideas into something that reflects their vision.

At Global I gained unique experience in agency design for one of the UK’s largest media owners. Home to the UK’s biggest radio stations and largest outdoor advertising estate, covering the whole of the UK and the Transport for London network.
As a part of Global media’s creative agency team since 2018, I focused on designing social media campaigns and digital advertising for a variety of clients. I super-charged Global’s social media products using video and animation to create some amazing success stories.
In 2020, I played an important role in creating OOH design as a service team for Global’s out of home media buyers. I was responsible for pitching and delivering multi-channel campaigns for national clients that gained industry recognition.
