Social Media

Social media design is a playground where brands can communicate with their customers daily. It allows new ideas to be tested and demographics to be expanded by including new subject matter to reach a wider audience.

Steady Rollin’ are a rock band from Sau Paulo, who wanted to promote to a UK audience using social media. However, the band had not yet visited the UK.

To target specific UK locations and audiences; I created an epic Youtube preroll for them where, through the magic of parallax animations, their latest track ‘I feel alive’ would appear on billboards, posters and projected on to famous landmarks in UK cities and venues.

Unfortunately Steady Rollin’s tour of the UK was cancelled due to COVID, but their engagement with UK audiences was achieved through this work on their social media channels, alongside interviews with the band about the UK rock and Roll influences and features on Global Radio stations. I still really like this campaign and the look and feel of the motion work I produced.

The view from the shard stretches 40 miles, all the way to Windsor Castle. Being responsible for delivering their social media content design each month, based on this fact alone, was easy.

There was ample stunning imagery and time-lapse footage to post, each day.

However, during my work on this campaign, I discovered many other wonderful facts and statistics about The Shard.

I illustrated these statistics and created into a 4×4 grid, of animated infographics using Facebook Instant experience, where the user could scroll through some fun facts and statistic about each level of the Shard.

“How exciting can boilers get?”, I hear you ask.

For Intergas Boilers, I created 12 pieces of content, every month for 2 years! That is 288 posts themed on household boilers! – Although, it wasn’t ALL boilers.

The original Intergas characters, were not my creation, I inherited a set of 6 static characters (top row), when I took on the social media design work at Global. When I started designing the content and animating the characters, due to the number of situations I would be required to put them in, I created numerous variants in regards to costume and pose, which often, I would design around the role the characters had assumed in the feel of the campaign. Steve was the straight laced but pleasant boss. Terri was efficient and organised. But Dave the engineer, became the unwitting star in most of the content.

The social media campaign I created for Apt Living with Global, is thought to be the first instagram campaign to directly lead to a UK property sale. (read article)

To give variety and increase the engagement of the content, I created some posts from quotes about minimalism, which complimented the principles of Apt Living.

The photography was beautiful and easy to create social content with, but when it came to video, they had very little. This animation of an apartment, featuring lots of clever storage solutions, coming together from blueprint style illustrations, was made from only  2 overlaid photographs and a floor plan.
